Just started a batch of orange bitters I found on Time magazine's blog. Added a star anise pod and kept my orange peel long for the look. Used a 100 proof vodka and will be waiting 14 days for this to get ready. Excited to have my own. A Martinez has become one of me favorite cocktails, and I can use my own bitters when I'm done.
Regan’s Orange Bitters No. 5
8 ounces dried orange peel, finely chopped
1 teaspoon cardamom seeds, cracked, seeds removed, pods discarded
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1 teaspoon quassia chips
1/2 teaspoon powdered cinchona bark
1/4 teaspoon gentian
2 cups grain alcohol
1 cup granulated sugar.
